Painting my 70’s laminate countertop to look like stone

OK. WHY? WHY??? Didn’t I do this sooner!

The old counter top.

If you don’t think it’s that bad take a look at this close up.

and it turns out that my sister-in-law Amy has the same exact countertop🤪 go figure!  So Amy this is what yours can look like to girl.

The first step was to fill in chips and cut marks, and I used this awesome wood filler product. It’s amazing stuff, because it’s made with ceramic beeds, so there is little to no shrinkage and this stuff is strong!!

Then I scuffed the counter up with 150 grit sand paper.  THERE’S NO GOING BACK NOW BABY!

2 coats of adhesive primer. I used B.I.N. It’s good stuff.

*tip: always pour paint on opposite side of the directions 👍

Oh man! The primer even looks better than what it was! 🙄 WHY? Didn’t I do this sooner?
The next pictures will be a successions of the progress of each layer I did.

I top coated it with Rustolium Varithane diamond hard finish in gloss and absolutely love how it turned out.

Be brave you can do it too!
