On a happy note Brian surprised we with an awesome new tool station....eeekkkk with excitement !!!!!
Isn't it the bomb!!!!!
Bri said I had to take a picture of this crazy cut out, this is why it's slow going.
Well we almost made it to the closet and Bri's back at work tomorrow.  Now that the hardest part is mostly over I'm sure it will go much faster.

Reno goes slooooowly

Ha ha Reno goes slooooowly when you don't know what you are doing.  Always measure three times before you cut.  Made a template from cardboard....
Then cut the plywood to fit.  This took till 3:00pm......like I said slooooowly lol.
Got the hardest row all notched out now have to glue and screw. Hopefully we'll be able to do at least one more row after this tonight.
....didn't get another row in but got the plywood measured and cut, ran out of glue and stores were all closed by then....to be continued....

Reno

Bri worked today. So I spent the day painting more trim and emptying both closets of clothes....that took a while.  I officially band from buying any more clothes.  My closet has so much stuff in it that there was mold in the corner cause there's no air circulation.  Going to be harsh and get rid of a lot when it's time the put stuff back!

Bedroom Reno

Ok it's slow going, going to be a long haul. Gotten the bedroom cleared out
Have all kinds of furniture through out my house. Still have to empty our closets...don't know where I'm going to put that stuff??...off to the store to get some plywood to level the floor.
.......not much accomplished today except the prep work, now hubby's back at work for the next few days.  Got some spakleing done, moved the tv a little higher on the wall and buried the wires in the wall, purchased the plywood and screws for the floor.  Next up remove the squeeks from the floor, put down the new plywood.

The pits update!!!

So, over the last month or so I have been antiperspirant free.  With only 2 ingredients, I am stink free.  I am really impressed in how well this works.  And happy that I'm not using aluminum anymore!!!

And it is super easy to do, this is what you need:

Philips milk of magnesian, Tea Tree oil, an empty roll-on bottle(I used a Nivea one) a sharp knife.  You actually don't really need the funnel.

Use the sharp knife to pop the roller ball off the Nivea bottle.
I'm not going to use the plastic bottle to measure next time, didn't really need to cause it holds that exact amount anyways.  So it is 24 drops of Tea Tree oil and Philips to fill the Nivea bottle.  That's it done!

Nov. 19/2013 Update....I added 30 drops of tea tree oil this time and I think it works better.

The Pits!!!!

So, I've made homemade detergent, fabric softener, bug spray, hey why not deodorant.  My memory is so bad, I've cut out all sweeteners and so next step was antiperspirant.

There are many recipe's on the internet, but I live in a 1 horse town so, getting them is not in the equation.  But, I did find some one the internet with one ingredient.....Milk of Magnesia, simple enough.

I had M.O.M. on hand so no problem there, I had used it before underneath make up in hot weather to prevent oiliness and it had worked very well, so it seem logical that it would help with sweat too.

Day 1:  No stinkyness, although I didn't do anything strenuous.  And I'm sure that there will be a adjustment time, I'm sure I have residual antiperspirant in my pores.

I'm also thinking of adding some tea tree oil, and lavender into the mix for added protection, we'll see.

Right now I just apply it with my fingers, once I use up my current roll on I will see if I can't re-use the bottle.

The weather here has been crazy

10 degrees and foggy.  Frost the other morning and Alaska has warmer weather than us. Found this article on it
Makes sense but what happens when the jet stream slows to a stop???

How to make the best tasting corn on the cob

The best tasting corn on the cob is cooked on the barbie.  Leave the husks on.
Soak in cold water 20 mins before cooking.  Use a plate or something heavy to hold them under water.
You now have 20mins to wait, so why not make some potato packs.  You need a couple potatoes, garlic salt, margarine(works best), chives.
Slice up your taters.
Put on non-stick tin foil, sprinkle with as much garlic salt as you want, and chives.
Fold sides over, do not pinch foil together

Fold in ends too.

Always make more than you need. They are so good the next day.

Put them all on the Barbie, cook for 20 mins rotating half way thru.
They look burnt but they are safe inside their cocoons.  I put everything in the oven to keep warm while we cook the burgers.  Now enjoy!

The last gate

Finishing the last gate.  It's been a year since we put up the fence.  Then winter came and we just ran out of time.
Then we will be iggy ready!

First cut....I took off a tooth on our brand new saw 😞😣
Appenently the new saw had movable fence guide that the last one did not.
That's where I tried to saw thru it lol.  NOTE TO SELF.......Always read the manual, even if you have used that type of equipment before.  Same company, same model...newer version=big mistake!!!!
Almost done! 😊😊

Staining stars

So I'm kinda nervous and also excited.  First is the dusting. Here's my awesome husband who did a lot of the sanding, probably more than me.
Then comes the pre-stain wood conditioner...

Next the stain....
Ok so it looks like years ago, something got spilled down the steps which made the wood softer in those areas, so it really sucked up the stain.  This could not be foreseen, there was no indication of any kind of marks at all before the we applied the stain.
What to do, what to do??!!&#*😳 After we recovered from the panic induced freak out.  Hubby called his wonderful brother, doer, and builder, fixer of many things.  His suggestion use tiny bits of steal wool on dark spots then touch up lightly with stain...... The result......
Spots be gone....it's a little dark now but should lighten as it dries....will cured pictures in a few days.
