Painting my 70’s laminate countertop to look like stone

OK. WHY? WHY??? Didn’t I do this sooner!

The old counter top.

If you don’t think it’s that bad take a look at this close up.

and it turns out that my sister-in-law Amy has the same exact countertop๐Ÿคช go figure!  So Amy this is what yours can look like to girl.

The first step was to fill in chips and cut marks, and I used this awesome wood filler product. It’s amazing stuff, because it’s made with ceramic beeds, so there is little to no shrinkage and this stuff is strong!!

Then I scuffed the counter up with 150 grit sand paper.  THERE’S NO GOING BACK NOW BABY!

2 coats of adhesive primer. I used B.I.N. It’s good stuff.

*tip: always pour paint on opposite side of the directions ๐Ÿ‘

Oh man! The primer even looks better than what it was! ๐Ÿ™„ WHY? Didn’t I do this sooner?
The next pictures will be a successions of the progress of each layer I did.

I top coated it with Rustolium Varithane diamond hard finish in gloss and absolutely love how it turned out.

Be brave you can do it too!

Fixing one of my pet peeves

One of my pet peeves is duvet slippage.  So, you toss and turn half way thru the night, your cold and no matter how high you tuck your covers under your chin you can’t get warm.  You finally wake you after a fitful nights sleep only to realize that you were hugging an empty duvet cover all night long, the actual duvet was down around your waist. Argggghh.....enter the duvet slippage fix.....

Ribbons sewn to all 4 corners!  Step one complete ๐Ÿ˜

Step 2

Attatching loops to the inside of duvet cover

It is working awesome!! No more cold shoulders for me!๐Ÿ˜€

Solo desktop aquarium filter modification

I took apart the submersible filter and remove the carbon container.
Then added some bio media
That's much better for beneficial bacteria.
